MESSAGE TO SPACKENKILL COMMUNITY

In August, we learned that IBM has proposed a project to construct a $2.5 billion quantum computing facility at its Poughkeepsie location. IBM asked the Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) for financial assistance in the form of a number of tax breaks, including property taxes, over the next 30 years.  District officials attended a public hearing that the IDA scheduled, expressing a number of its concerns over the payments in lieu of taxes IBM proposed the District would receive over the time that IBM's property would remain tax-exempt.  A copy of the District's letter submitted to the IDA can be found here.
